Earlier this summer, Texas Tech announced a $200 million project to demolish the south end zone at Jones AT&T Stadium and the Texas Tech football facility. The renditions that were thrown at the time of the announcement were excellent. They featured bell towers, a Double-T scoreboard and two jumbo trons.

Previous renderings have been filled with two-dimensional ghosts that depict the football facility and roam the grounds. When the graphics came out, Texas Tech fans went wild with their imaginations of what this might look like in real life, and at the Red Raider Club Kickoff lunch, Texas Tech athletics gave us a better idea.
The video above shows some of the best views of what the project will look like, and they are pretty impressive.
The screenshots below show the team running from midfield behind the goal post leading the masked knight. The top right photo shows the outside of the stadium with the Womble Football Stadium and the Sky Bridge. The aerial view at bottom right shows the topography of Lubbock. The best photo, in my opinion, is the bottom left. The team coming out through the new south end zone looks really cool.
Construction on the south end is scheduled to begin in the 2022 season and is expected to be completed by the 2024 production season. The football facility will begin after spring practice in 2023. Until then, there will be some creative solutions for the football team, but it will all be worth it in the end.
If FPI is correct, Texas Tech will go 5-7
The ESPN FPI, or Football Power Index, is a mathematical formula like most other leagues. “Measure a team’s true strength on a net point scale; The expected point margin against an average competitor in a neutral field,” he says. According to ESPN. The projected results are based on 20,000 simulations over the remainder of the season using FPI as a model. Preseason predictions are incomplete because a big part of the puzzle is the results that have already happened, which will affect the rest of the schedule. So, based on half of the puzzle, Texas Tech is predicted to get wins in all five of their games. These projections will change daily once the season starts, but it’s good to have a baseline of analytical expectations heading into the season.
