If you have a solid pull slide, nothing else matters about your pitch deck.

It’s normal. Acceptable artwork you need between 10 and 20 slides to tell your startup story. But many founders don’t seem to realize that not all slides are created equal. Some slides are heavier than others – and three are critical. Today, I’m taking you through why those three slides are so important.

A way to use this article to help organize your pitch deck is to think about which of the features you have in your resume. For example, number 1 on this list is drag. If you have incredible traction, that should probably be the first slide in the deck. It doesn’t matter if you have an inexperienced team, a terrible product, or a questionable market. If you can show that you are earning 9% or more per week, you will collect money.

There is a hierarchy that helps with which type of drag:

  • Profit If you’re cash positive and growing fast, you probably don’t even need venture capital – but if raising money can help you grow fast, you’re in a great place.
  • ARR If your annual recurring income is growing rapidly, you’re in luck. Recurring revenues and the flexibility of SaaS means you’re onto something.
  • Active users. If you’re growing your user base exponentially, without knowing how to monetize it, that’s still a daunting task. If you can demonstrate that you can build a large loyal audience, you may find a way to make money online.
  • registrations. If you’re seeing significant growth in the number of signups for your product or service, but they’re not generating or sustaining revenue, there’s still value — although your traction slide should be accompanied by a solid “how to.” Does this make money?” Slide
