A donut food trailer business was destroyed in an accident on I-475

SYLVANIA TWP., Ohio (WTVG) – Hot, hot donuts are out of the trailer. For Heidi Sherman and her husband, Ryan, that was their dream.

The couple, from Sylvania Township, has signed a deal with their favorite donut company, Detroit Mini Donuts, and will launch a mobile business in the Toledo area in August 2022. They ran festivals for two months until last Wednesday, October 12, 2022. A collision destroys their trailer and sends Heidi to the hospital.

“I got on the freeway to come home and just, all of a sudden, boom, like, really boom,” said Heidi, who was heading north on Maumee near St. Luke’s Hospital when the crash happened. Heidi was on her way home from an event in Waterside’s Monclova area when her trailer was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

Heidi, who was driving another pickup truck and towing a trailer, said, “The trailer just started rolling, like, even though it was stuck. “When you’re driving on the highway, there’s all kinds of crazy thoughts that go through your mind, but I’ve been really lucky and very lucky, and people have been amazing. And I’m going to be emotional about that part. The community has been amazing.”

Heidi ended up with a mild concussion and a bruised shoulder. She says the driver of the other pickup also suffered minor injuries, but the Detroit Mini Donuts – Toledo food ad was totaled.

“We are very sad. “We put a lot of hard work and time and energy and money into open space,” Heidi added.

She and her husband are rebuilding the business they worked so hard to start two months ago and are looking for another trailer or food truck. Follow their progress on the Detroit Mini Donuts – Toledo Facebook page by clicking here.
