iQor closes call center business | News, sports, jobs



A call center on East 25th Street has closed its doors.

The business, last known as iQor, opened on April 6, 2009, in the former Martin’s Food Market building by leasing from Twenty-Fifth Street LLC, New Customer Service Cos. Inc. He opened under the name

In the year In 2009, the company said it planned to bring 480 customer care jobs to Altoona. In the year In 2010, the company announced that it had 200 employees and plans to add 225 more by the end of that year.

The call center, which housed a customer care team responsible for fielding and managing inbound consumer calls for retail customers, was renamed in 2013 to new parent company Asurion.

In the year In 2017, St. Petersburg, Fla.-based iQor, a global provider of business process outsourcing and product support services, reached an agreement to acquire a portion of Asurion’s customer support operations, including the Altoona location.

Now, Twenty-Fifth Avenue LLC, which is owned and operated by DeVoris Real Estate and Laurouk Real Estate Co., is trying to find a tenant for the 43,300-square-foot building.

“It is always disappointing to see a large national business close its business in Altoona. iQor has provided many jobs to local residents. It is my understanding that many of them will remain at iQor as remote workers.” said partner Andrea Cohen. “We are actively marketing and showing our facility and hope to find a new tenant or buyer in the near future.”

iQor officials did not respond to requests for comment.
